How can I make my laundry hamper smell better? I just opened it and nearly vomited from the smell?

My laundry hamper smells absolutely wretched. All that is in there is about a week%26#039;s worth of laundry, but it smells like the dumpster behind Long John Silver%26#039;s. I know baking soda is supposed to fight odors, but I dont know where to put it. I dont want to do my laundry more often, so I need to know a good deodorizer.

I would spray Fabreeze deoderizer in it each time u empy it to do wash...and dont let wash pile up or put wet things in hamper..drape wet towels to dry first
Reply:Wash it out and by an air freshener to put in it afterwards. Also washing the clothes that are in it might work too.
Reply:there are several ways......first air out your laundry before you put it in the basket. second dont put wet or damp clothing in with dry clothing. third if none of the above work......wash your clothing more often or dont get dirty
Reply:Try a piece of charcoal in a paper bag in the bottom of the hamper or put pieces of cedar woodchips in a paper bag and leave it in the bottom of the hamper.

Reply:Listen buy some Tide and throw away you hamper air where ever you keep your hamper. The (room) and buy a new. Wash your clothes at least once a week maybe on Sunday. When your free. That why your clothes smell. If they get wet and you keep them in the hamper. They well smell like mildew. OK, so please wash them on the regular.

Reply:There may be a weeks worth of laundry but how do you expect to smell if you were the cloths for a month.





Oh, and your suppose to use soap when you wash your cloths.
Reply:Scrub with baking soda and water. Rinse. Leave out in bright sunlight for a couple of days (bring in at night). Leave a sachet of baking soda in it when you use it again.

Reply:Have you tried using one of those stick on air fresheners? Just put that on the inside of the hamper, and it should work.





You could also try just washing out the hamper. Use hot water and baking soda. Let it stand for a few minutes with the solution in there (maybe 10 minutes). Then let the hamper completely dry before putting clothes in there.

Reply:Well, you%26#039;re not alone. I gave my hamper up for that very reason. Each person now has their own laundry basket or two. The odor is still there but it isn%26#039;t captive like in the hamper. Guess you could try a little Fabreze. I just got a kitchen garbage can with a lid and that poor thing is pretty stinky, too, even though the garbage goes out at least once a day.
Reply:get a box of baking soda open it and pour it i in the bottom of the hamper you can even just pour it on the bottom ,because if you put some in your washer with em it freshen the laundry

Reply:Heck why dont you Fabreeze all your clothes instead of washing them, I bet your date for tomorrow night (since I know you probably have one, what with your social life and all) wont notice a thing and will probably be all over you anyways.

Reply:The best way to get rid of the smell is to keep two or three dryer sheets at the bottom.
Reply:can%26#039;t think of a tidy way to put baking soda in there--I%26#039;d try something easy to use, like a stick %26#039;em (do they still make those?), or any sort of air freshener, or even an odor eater!
Reply:i%26#039;m guessing your pantys are the reason for the seafood smell. try changing every day, not every week. This may seem like a lot, but since your aint wasting your time brushing your teeth, or washing your hair, you should have time.
Reply:try to wash it again and this time put LYSOL disenfectant... its proven. takes away smelly clothes... believe me...
