Bad Smell In Car?

I got this nasty smell in my 1999 Dodge Intrepid, and i thought it was from bringing the dogs in the car. It was like a week after the dogs were in the car. So i put a deodorizer in the car, and the car didn%26#039;t smell anymore...until now, about 1 month later it came back, and i never had the dogs in the car... It is really a nasty smell, what is it, and what can i do about it. I don%26#039;t know what its coming from, but I know its not the dogs.

Reply:ill tell you what we did once. i worked at a dodge garage once and they brought a car in on trade once and it had a nasty smell and what we did, was cut up a bag of apples in a bucket and put it in the trunk, and the next morning the smell was gone. i guess the apples absorbed the odor. the car smelled like apples.
Reply:if it smells like rotten eggs its the catalytic converter.I once had a car transmission fluid was burnt and sucked up through vacume on motor. it smelt just like s--t.
Reply:Can you tell if it is stronger in one area or another. Try to track it down. It could even be a dead mouse that got into your car to stay warm...but then got trapped and died. It could also be moisture building up under the seats or in the trunk for a water leak around door or trunk seals. The mildew can smell pretty bad....so see if you notice this right after a heavy rain...then that could be your problem. Without knowing what it smells like...it%26#039;s kind of hard to say what it might be.
